Reversing Falls are produced when there is an inlet leading into a salt pond. When the tide comes in, the water flows into the salt pond, and when the tide goes out, the water changes direction and flows in the opposite direction to empty out the pond. This is a favorite spot for kayakers to practice doing rolls and stunts - quite a sight to see!

I live on the mid-coast of Maine, in Blue Hill, just an hour from Acadia National Park, where there are endless photographic opportunities.
